Top Six Wine Events in NYC - March 2020

Get your swirling and sipping on! Here’s a look at some of the best NYC wine events during the month of March (and one in early April that sells out very quickly).

Strong Women Make Big Bordeaux Bottles. It’s not every night of the week that you can have by-the-glass choices of great Bordeaux wines poured from large-format bottles. During the first week of March 2020, you will have that opportunity when a very special delegation of women winemakers from the renowned region of Bordeaux is in town.

Leading up to International Women’s Day on March 8th, 70 top restaurants in New York City will be pouring female-made Bordeaux wines from rare 3-Liter bottles (four bottles in one!). Amy Racine, wine director at 701 West at the Times Square Edition Hotel, says that they are excited to partner with “exceptionally talented women winemakers and pour wines we love.” Many of the restaurants will also host additional tasting experiences and promotions in honor of Women’s History Month.

Cava Discovery Week. It’s time to re-think Spain’s most famous sparkling wine. Cava is made in the same way as Champagne, the traditional method, yet it’s so much more than an inexpensive alternative to its French cousin. The many styles of Cava range from simple and refreshing to complex and powerful, and from dry to sweet.

During the second week of March enjoy a selection of premium Cavas—the longer-aged and more complex styles: Reserva, Gran Reserva and Cava de Paraje—paired with delicious bites at eight restaurants around NYC.

Georgian wines are typically aged in underground earthenware pots called kvevri, a method that results in complex, beautiful wines. During the event, you will have a chance to meet winemakers and try several unique wines paired with tasty Georgian bites.
