Done with dry January already? Want to learn more about wine this year? Here are some of New York’s best wine events coming up in the next several weeks.

Wine & Spirits Magazine - Top 100 Symposium. Date: 1/14/20. Location: Union Square Events, 5-7 East 17th Street. 5:30-8:30 PM.

Meet the winemakers and taste the top-scoring wines from the Top 100 Wineries of 2019. The walk-around tasting features delicious dishes prepared by local restaurants, including Bâtard, Jungsik, L’Accolade, Nice Martin, Noreetuh, The Dutch, and The River Café. Wineries in attendance include Champagne Bruno Paillard, Champagne Bollinger, Domaines Ott, Williams Selyem, Bethel Heights, Bergström, Corison, Mullineux, Col Solare, Penfolds, R. López de Heredia, and many more. The event will benefit the environmental nonprofit, NY/NJ Baykeeper.

Sotheby’s Wines - An Evening with the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux. Date: 1/20. Location: Cipriani 42nd Street, 110 East 42nd Street, 6:30-9:00 PM.

The UGC is an organization whose members are the top estates from the most prestigious Bordeaux appellations. Attendees will be among the first to taste the soon-to-be-released wines from the 2017 vintage, and meet many winemakers and chateaux owners. The walk-around tasting will also feature a Champagne bar pouring Charles Heidsieck Champagne with freshly shucked oysters.

Les Dames d’Escoffier New York - The Next Big Sip. Date: 1/21/20. Location: Del Posto restaurant, 85 10th Avenue, 6:00-8:00 PM.

A panel discussion will address trends in wine, spirits, and other alcohol beverages. The eight speakers include Eric Asimov, Chief Wine Critic at The New York Times, Erica Duecy, Editor-in-Chief and Chief Content Officer at VinePair, and Victoria James, Beverage Director & Partner of Cote Korean Steakhouse. Reception with passed hors d’oeuvres and wine will follow the discussion.

Barolo & Barbaresco Consortium - World Opening. Date: 2/4/20. Location: Center 415, 415 5th Avenue, between 37th 38th Streets, 6:00-9:00 PM.

Barolo & Barbaresco wines, made from 100% nebbiolo grapes, are some of the most sought-after in the world. Age-worthy and complex, these wines have a long history of production in Piedmont. Join over 200 top producers, from both large and small wineries, who will be pouring their Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG wines. A portion of the proceeds will benefit City Harvest.

Murray’s Cheese - Wine and Cheese Pairings. Date: weekly. Location: 254 Bleeker Street.

Learn which types of cheese go well with a variety of wines. Sample several combinations and get insider tips on how to find the right match on your own. Most classes run 90-minutes long.
