Grape Collective Article: Laura Catena's Gold in the Vineyards: A Celebration of The World's Most Iconic Wineries

How Does She Do It?

Laura Catena is a 4th generation vintner at Catena Zapata, running one of Argentina’s largest and most historic wineries. Simultaneously, Catena works as a physician in San Francisco, while raising three children with her husband Daniel McDermott. She is also the author of two books about wine. It’s no wonder that as a child, her grandfather nicknamed her “the little mouse” for her non-stop motion, and, clearly, time has not slowed Catena down.

Catena’s latest published work, Gold in the Vineyards, is a charmingly illustrated study of twelve of the world’s most iconic wineries — a result of 25 years of research, vineyard studies and discussions with families who make some of the greatest wines in the world. Gold in the Vineyards would be an ideal gift for wine lovers and history buffs, and can be found on amazon.com.
